Highlighters

I create a lot of documentation inside Lotus Notes (email, Document Libraries, TeamRooms) where I share information with my peers. One of the tools I use to help draw attention to key points is the text highlighter.
These work similar to how you'd use a highlighter in real life. First you need to enable the highlighter. You do this by choosing Text - Highlighter - and then selecting which colour you want. You will see your mouse cursor change into the highlighter
icon.
Next position the highlighter at the start of the text you wish to call attention to, then press (and don't release) the left mouse button, then drag your mouse from left to right over the text you want highlighted, releasing the button when you want to stop.
Unlike a real highlighter, in Notes you can "un-highlight" by moving over the text from right to left. The text will turn "grey" while you are moving over it, but when you release the mouse button it will be back to normal.
Here are some tricks you can take advantage of:
- If you move your cursor to the left of the first word in line of text and click and release the mouse button it will highlight the entire line.
- Move to the word you want to start at and then click and hold the mouse button down. Now drag your mouse down instead of across it will highlight to the end of the current line, as well as up to the point where you stop dragging your cursor. (Try it, it will make more sense)
- You can double click on a specific word to highlight it.
Before you ask...
1.) No, highlighting does not work on documents sent to the internet.
2.) No, there is no toolbar icon for them. (I've only been asking for this for about 5 years!)

Good post, as I think relatively few people seem to know about or use the highlighting.
For what it is worth (and I know that is precious little), if you are using our Midas Rich Text LSX to generate your HTML, the highlighter is rendered in the HTML sent to the Internet.
Thanks for the post -- I could not figure out how to un-highlight on my own :) .
Also had problem chaning the Highligh Pen to normal. We have to select the same highlighter again to change the pen to normal again.
